KARIMNAGAR, MAY 2. The District Congress Committee (DCC) has demanded that the administration immediately provide compensation to hailstorm-hit farmers in the district. In a memorandum submitted to the Collector, Sumita Dawra, a copy of which was released to the media, the DCC president, D. Sridhar, the former legislators - T. Jeevan Reddy and J. Ratnakara Rao and other leaders stated that hailstorms had caused havoc in about 30 mandals. They demanded the administration to provide compensation to the affected farmers and free distribution of seed. They also urged the Government to waive crop loan and provide fresh loan to farmers for taking up khariff crop. They also sought payment of ex gratia of Rs. 1 lakh to the next of kin of farmers who were killed in a series of hailstorms.
