Congress will reverse setback: Karan Singh

By Our Special Correspondent

JAIPUR, MAY 2 .The senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member, Karan Singh, has predicted the revival of the party after the current Lok Sabha elections. The Congress would reverse the setback it received in the recent Assembly elections, he said. "The wind is in favour of the Congress. The revival of the party has started,'' he observed.

Dr.Singh, who was in the State Capital to address public meetings and to review the party campaign in Rajasthan, said the National Democratic Alliance failed to complete the full term in office. "In four-and-a-half years they announced elections. If they had the self-confidence they would have completed five years,'' he noted. The feel good factor did not appeal to the electorate as they had no reason to feel good when there was no well-being, he noted.

Citing from the latest reports, Dr.Singh said the calorie intake of average Indian had fallen in the past five years. A recent report from the United States also had noted that maximum terrorist activity in the world was in India, he pointed out.

Dr. Singh, who did not rule out a realignment of political parties after the elections, said the leader could be decided by the coalition parties. "In politics there is always some glorious unpredictability,'' he noted. "Soniaji herself has said that it was not her priority to become the Prime Minister,'' he said responding to a question. As for the Third Front, Dr. Singh noted there was no such front. "Who is talking about the Third Front,'' he asked.

There could be many aspirants for the post of the Prime Minister and in a democracy, especially when there was a coalition, this was absolutely normal as well, he explained. He charged the NDA with leading a personality-centric election campaign.
