RTC, implement

what you preach

Sir_ Though we find slogans in buses like "respect womanhood,'' etc. at prominent places on RTC buses, we still find men occupying the seats reserved for women. The conductors also seem to be least bothered. Ideally, they should direct the male passengers to vacate seats meant for women passengers who endure the ordeal of travelling by standing in the congested buses. I request the RTC authorities to strictly ensure that the seats meant for women are not occupied by men. Otherwise there is no use in having such catchy slogans.

L.V.S. Kameswara Rao,

Change Congress

party flag

Sir_ The party flag of the Congress is somewhat similar to that of the national tricolour. In recent days we witnessed a number of party workers destroying the Congress flag on denial of tickets to their leaders. It was disgusting to witness the burning of the Congress party flags as it reminded us of our national flags. I request the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to change the colour and design of the Congress party's flags.

P. Srikantha Babu,

Kankipadu.

Party must offer

CM post to YSR

Sir_ The former CLP leader Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, rendered an invaluable contribution to the party by campaigning throughout the length and breath of the State during his "padayatra and jaitra yatras.'' This resulted in mobilising considerable support for the Congress in the just concluded elections. I think there is no one else in the party who could have taken the mantle from him. As such, if the Congress wins a majority to form the Government, it would be justifiable to offer the Chief Minister's post to Mr. Rajasekhara Reddy.

N. Ramalakshmi,

Vijayawada.

Council revival

Sir— Some political parties are promising to revive the Legislative Council which was discarded by the late N.T. Rama Rao. The decision to abolish the council by the then Chief Minister had ensured that there was no derailment of the administrative measures. But the talk of reviving the council is deplorable as it would result in wastage of public funds which would be required for the maintenance of the proposed council. I request the political parties to reconsider their idea of reviving the council as the common man is against such wasteful expenditure.

B. Subrahmanya Sastry,

Bapatla.
