By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, MAY 2. The Bharatiya Janata Party president, M. Venkaiah Naidu, and the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, today reviewed the party's election campaign strategy for the remaining two phases on May 5 and 10. The meeting was also attended by the BJP spokesperson, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

The meeting took stock of what has happened so far and how it has fared in the first two phases of polling on April 20 and 26. They focussed on the ongoing campaign in parts of Uttar Pradesh where polling is scheduled to be held on May 5. The party has eight Lok Sabha seats in the Central Uttar Pradesh. Mr. Naqvi said that specific seats of Uttar Pradesh also came up during discussion and the focus was on how best to deploy resources. to manage the campaign.

The BJP is facing the formidable combine of the Samajwadi Party and Ajit Singh's Lok Dal in Western Uttar Pradesh from where it may have to face a tough electoral battle on about 18 Lok Sabha seats that go to polls on May 10, sources say. The party is also likely to finetune its strategy in this belt and bring in star campaigners and party leaders in the final round of campaigning.
