CHENNAI, MAY 2. A man who descended into a 35-foot well at Gandhi Nagar near Saligramam died of asphyxiation this morning, while another person who tried to save him was rescued by fire service personnel. According to the police, Ramesh (25) got into the well for cleaning it. After a while he reportedly developed breathing problems. Venkatesh, a tea stall owner, volunteered to help him. But soon he too started gasping for breath and the Fire Service department was alerted. Ramesh was eventually brought out dead.
