SYDNEY,
MAY 4.
Sydney Olympian Adam Commens and goalkeeper Mark Hickman were today omitted from the Australian squad for the final overseas tour prior to next month's naming of the Olympic men's hockey team.
But injured striker Craig Victory and comeback player Jamie Dwyer were given a final chance to press their claims for Athens, with selection in the 20-man European tour squad announced today.
The tour starting on May 20 includes games against world champion Germany, Pakistan, Great Britain and Belgium. It is the last chance for players to press their Olympic selection claims before the national squad for Athens is named on June 22.
The squad: Michael Boyce, Michael Brennan, Travis Brooks, Dean Butler, Liam de Young, Jamie Dwyer, Nathan Eglington, Troy Elder, Paul Gaudoin, Rob Hammond, Bevan George, Mark Knowles, Stephen Lambert, Brent Livermore, Michael McCann, Stephen Mowlam, Grant Schubert, Andrew Smith, Craig Victory and Matthew Wells.
