KOCHI, MAY 4. With a boating trip planned for the afternoon, former Asian junior bronze medallist K. Ratnakaran settled for a quick 14-move draw against International Master Poobesh Anand in the sixth round of the second B.C.Cochin all-India FIDE-rated chess tournament at the Indira Nagar YMCA here on Tuesday. Despite the top-board draw, Kerala's sixth-seeded Ratnakaran and Tamil Nadu's fifth-seeded Poobesh Anand were among the four leaders today. Kerala's experienced M.B.Muraleedharan and O.T.Anilkumar were the others in the top pack in the nine-round event.
Fifth round: Poobesh Anand bt G.N.Gopal; Alex Thomas lost to K.Ratnakaran; C.Natarajan lost to M.B.Muraleedharan; V.Koshy drew with O.T.Anilkumar; Vijendra drew with D.V.Prasad; K.Gunasekharan drew with A.Khamparia; Syed Anwar Shazuli bt Binju Oommen; M.A.Joy Lazar drew with Sai Srinivas; Vinoth Kumar drew with P.Maheshwaran; Himanshu Sharma bt Cholae Vikrant.
