This Day That Age
At a meeting of eminent artistes and persons interested in music, dance, drama and the films, convened on May 3 at the Secretariat in Madras by Mr. C. Subramaniam, Finance and Education Minister, a resolution was passed welcoming the idea of the formation of a Sangeeta Natak Academy for Madras State. At the request of Mr. Subramaniam, Mr. P.V. Rajamannar, Chief Justice of the Madras High Court and President of the All-India Sangeet Natak Academy, explained the constitution of the all-India body and referred to its resolution suggesting the formation of State or regional committees. Those present at the meeting included Messrs. Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar, Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, "Papa" Venkatarama Iyer, Rajamanickam Pillai, S.S. Vasan, K. Subramaniam, Musiri Subramania Iyer, Chittoor Subramania Pillai and Smt. Balasaraswathi.
