KOCHI, MAY 4. The Karikkamuri Residents' Association has filed a writ petition before the Kerala High Court seeking a direction to the Kochi Corporation to clean the drains and canals in the Karikkamuri areas to avert flooding during rains. The petition also sought a direction to the Corporation to activate the motor pumps installed near the KSRTC bus stand and the Mullassery Canal Road to flush out the rainwater. According to the petitioner, the area was flooded in the rain that lashed Kochi on Sunday night. The petitioner had earlier brought to the notice of the Corporation the need for cleaning the drainage and canals. However, the Corporation had done nothing to clean the canals and drains in the area.
