WARANGAL, APRIL 4. The district authorities today allayed fears of reported outbreak of viral fever in the district. The cases being admitted to the MGM Hospital here were yet to be confirmed, they said. Speaking to The Hindu , the Joint Collector, C. Parthasarathi, said six cases of suspected viral fever were admitted to the MGM Hospital and the samples were sent to Hyderabad. "They tested negative,'' he said. In view of apprehension among people, the district administration has directed the Medical and Health Department to closely monitor the cases being admitted at the MGM Hospital and take preventive measures. The municipal corporations were also asked to initiate special drives to ensure hygiene in their respective localities. It may be mentioned here that last year many children died of mysterious diseases. The situation had become so tense that the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, was forced to visit the district. He had also ordered the Health Minister, Kodela Sivaprasad, and other senior Cabinet colleagues to keep a watch on the district and announced ex gratia to the families of the deceased. Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Girijan Sangham demanded timely steps to prevent spread of viral ferver.
