Rain in T.N.

CHENNAI, MAY 4. Rainfall occurred at most places over Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep, at many places over Kerala, Rayalaseema and coastal Karnataka and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh. Isolated rainfall occurred over Telangana. Mainly dry weather prevailed over north interior Karnataka. The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in cms: Pondicherry Airport, Thanjavur, Yercaud and Keeranur (Pudukottai dt.) 16 each, Cuddalore 15, Polur (Tiruvannamalai dt.) and Pennagaram (Dharmapuri dt.) 14 each, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai and Pullambadi (Tiruchirapalli dt.) 13 each, Kanchipuram and Tiruchirapalli 12 each, Tiruchirapalli Airport, Chidambaram (Cuddalore dt), Thirukattupalli (Thanjavur dt.) and Bhagamandala (Kodagu dt.) 11 each, Thuraiyur (Tiruchirapalli dt.), Aranthangi (Pudukottai dt.), Perambalur, Thamaraipakkam (Tiruvallur dt.), Chittur and Palamaner (Chittur dt.) 10 each, Thiruvaiyaru (Thanjavur dt.), Needamangalam (Tiruvarur dt.), Poondi (Tiruvallur dt.), Adiramapattinam and Denkanikottai (Krishnagiri dt.) 9 each, Harur (Dharmapuri dt.), Salem, Kumbakonam (Thanjavur dt.), Dindigul and Sulurpet (Nellore dt.) 8 each and Chennai, Tirukoilur (Villupuram dt.), Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt.), Pudukottai, Hosur (Krishnagiri dt.), Namakkal, Thammapatti (Salem dt.), Gudur (Nellore dt.) and Malur (Kolar dt.) 7 each.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms are: Tambaram, Parangipettai, Dharmapuri, Attur (Salem dt.), Manaparai (Tiruchirapalli dt.), Red Hills (Thiruvallur dt.), Tada (Nellore dt.) and Hoskote (Bangalore Rural dt.) 6 each, Chennai Airport, Barur (Dharmapuri dt.), Krishnagiri, Erode, Cholavaram and Chembarambakkam (both Thiruvallur dt.), Korattur (Kanchipuram dt.), Nellore, Puttur (Chitradurga dt.), Kollam, Amini Divi and Bangalore Airport 5 each, Tiruvarur, Uthangarai (Krishnagiri dt.), Thiruchengode (Namakkal dt.), Karur Paramathi, Kodaikanal, Bhavani (Erode dt.), Kavali, Thiruvananthapuram 4.
