Ghani Khan abstains from Sonia's rally

RATUA (WEST BENGAL), MAY 4. A miffed veteran Congress leader A B A Ghani Khan Choudhury, seeking to retain his Malda Lok Sabha seat for the eighth consecutive time, today did not turn up at the election rally of party chief Sonia Gandhi at Ratua in Malda district. Mr. Khan said yesterday that he had requested Ms. Gandhi in a fax message to visit Malda first and then proceed in a `road show' to the meeting at Ratua.

He had said if the request was not accepted, he might abstain from her rally.
