Abandoned suitcase creates panic

An abandoned suitcase at the ticket counter of IMAX theatre on Necklace Road sent the police and visitors into a tizzy on Tuesday night.

With people suspecting that it might be a suitcase bomb, the Saifabad police pressed the bomb disposal and dog squads into service. However, it turned out to be a hoax as the police only found some clothes inside the suitcase.

Three arrested

The Musheerabad police caught three teenagers, who allegedly stole Rs. 2,000 cash from a shop after diverting the shop owner's attention near Musheerabad fish market on May 2, on Tuesday. The shop owner, Laxminarayana, caught one of the accused, Syed Naveen, on May 2 while trying to flee the spot, according to a press release. Based on his confession, three others - Mohd. Kaleem, Mohd. Mukaramm and Mohd. Ahmed -- were rounded up.

Commits suicide

An electrician, Raju (30), committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of Ganga Apartments under the Karkhana police station limits on Tuesday. Inquiries by the police revealed that the victim was an alcoholic and used to harass his wife, Doraj, for money. He left the house in the morning after an argument with his wife and later committed suicide, the police said.
