No power

COIMBATORE, MAY 4. There will be no power supply in the following places on May 6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. owing to shutdown of Marudur substation for maintenance work: Tholampalayam, Velliyankadu, Seeliyur, Bujanganur, Dhayanur, Marudur, Pudhur, Karichipalayam, Kannarpalayam, Chenniveerampalayam, Karamadai, Thekkampatti and Vadavalli.

Training

The Avinashilingam Education Trust Institutions-Training Centre will conduct courses from May 5 on flower management and bouquet making, flower tying for occasions, stain glass painting, drawing and painting for children. Seminar

A `Tissue Culture Banana Convention' will be organised by the SPIC on May 7. It will be inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Dr. C. Ramasamy, according to a release.

Programme

A month-long Young Student Scientist Programme was inaugurated at the Avinashilingam University today. The programme is sponsored by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology-Chennai and the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.
