MANGALORE, MAY 4. Rescue teams have recovered the body of Samad (19), who reported went missing after a mini-lorry by which he was travelling fell into the Shambavi River in Mulki police station limits on Monday. The lorry plunged into the river after breaking through the railings of the bridge. Two others who were in the lorry, Jameel and Ashraf, swam to safety. Efforts by rescue teams, including fire fighters, policemen, and local fishermen, failed to save Samad, who was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle.
Killed
Seeta (65) was killed when she was reportedly knocked down by a car at Kolya village near Someshwar on National Highway 17 on Tuesday. The police said the car being driven by Rajesh knocked down Seeta, who was immediately shifted to a private nursing home at Thokkottu. The victim later succumbed to her injuries.
Robbed
Bharathi S. Bhat was robbed of her cash and jewellery while travelling on a KSRTC bus bound for Mangalore, according to the police. According to a complaint lodged by Ms. Bhat with the Puttur town police, gold jewellery worth Rs. 70,000 and Rs. 4,200 cash kept in her vanity bag is missing.
