Uphaar fire accused dies
NEW DELHI,
MAY 4.
A top official of the Ansal group K L Malhotra, accused in the 1997 Uphhar fire tragedy, died today after suffering a massive heart attack at the Patiala House courts here.
Malhotra, who sufferred the stroke outside the court of Additional Sessions Judge Mamta Sehgal, was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital following the attack, was declared ``brought dead'', hospital sources said.
He had come to the court in connection with the hearing in the case.
He was Deputy General Manager of Ansal Theatres and Clubotels Pvt. Ltd and figured in the chargesheet filed by CBI in connection with the tragedy in which 59 people lost their lives when fire broke out in Uphaar cinema, here in June 1997.
