Clear sky forecast

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, MAY 4.MAY 4.MAY 4. Delhiites will wake up to a mainly clear sky on Wednesday. The maximum temperature is likely to remain around 36 degree Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Tuesday were 36.1 and 21 degree Celsius respectively, while Palam recorded a maximum of 36.4 and a minimum of 21.8 degree Celsius.

The maximum and minimum humidity at Safdarjung was 70 and 24 per cent and at Palam it was 76 and 23 per cent respectively.

Social activist passes away

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, MAY 4.MAY 4.MAY 4. A.V. Davar, convenor of New World Order Campaign and a well-known social activist of Indian origin settled in Britain, passed away peacefully at his London residence, according to family sources here. He was 63.

Mr. Davar was a prolific writer on social and political issues who campaigned vigorously through letters to Heads of State for world peace, nuclear disarmament and an equitable social and economic world order. His advice on international issues and disputes was well received and appreciated by world leaders like Margaret Thatcher, Col. Gaddafi of Libya, Lord Mountbatten and many others.

The eldest son of the late Dr. M.C. Davar, freedom fighter and member of the All-India Congress Committee, Victor Davar was a bachelor. He is survived by three younger brothers and a sister.

Medical report sought

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, MAY 4.MAY 4.MAY 4. The Delhi High Court today sought from the Tihar Jail authority, the medical report of Navdeep Singh Randhawa, charged with robbbery at the Swiss Air Office at World Trade Towers here.

Justice O P Dwivedi asked the Deputy Superintendent of Tihar Jail to place before him the report of Randhawa, allegdly suffering from paranoid schizopherenia on May 6.

Randhawa, chargesheeted by the Delhi Police under section 397 (robbery or dacoity with attempt to cause death or hurt) has not been talking or taking food for the past 8 to 10 days, his counsel Javed Hashmi submitted. The court has already fixed May 6 to hear his bail application.

Randhawas was arrested by the Delhi police on November 11 while it was on look for the assailant who allegedly had raped the Swiss diplomat outside the Siri Fort Auditorium.

Later, the police failed to find any evidence against him for the rape case but claimed to have evidence for his complicity in World Trade Tower incident at the Connaught Place.
