Salem wins team championship

CHENNAI, MAY 5. Salem district won the team championship with 102 points in the State sub-junior powerlifting championship, held at Kallidaikurichi, on Saturday.

Tirunelveli finished runner-up with 84 points and Tiruvallur third with 80 points. S. Vimalraj of Tiruvarur district was the `Strongman' of the meet.

The winners:

52 kg: C. Gnana Prakash (Tanjavur-127.5 (squat)+ 87.5 (bench press)+175 (dead lift)=390 (total); 56 kg: S. Vimalraj (Tiruvarur-220+95+200=515); 60 kg: M. Pandian (Salem-190+90+210=490); 67.5 kg: A. Devanathan (Chennai-175+102.5+202.5=480).

75 kg: M. Prabu (Salem - 145+90+190=425); 82.5 kg: R. Venkatesan (Salem-190+115+200=505); 90 kg: S. Ramesh (Salem-165+77.5+180=422.5).

100 kg: S.J. Rajkumar (Salem-170+72.5+185=427.5).

110 kg: D. Petchimuthu (Tirunelveli-135+90+160=385); 125 kg: J. Deepan Chakravarthy (Vellore-122.5+67.5.182.5=372.5).

+125 kg: J. Christy (Chennai-140+80+160=380)
