MANGALORE, MAY 6. The Dakshina Kannada Anche Tanti Naukarara Sahakari Sangha Hitharakshana Vedike, which met here recently under the presidentship of Sheshagiri Rao, has urged the managing committee of the association to convene a special general body meeting in a fortnight. The vedike has rejected the accounts submitted by the committee at the last general body meeting. A press release from S.S. Kamath, convener of the vedike here on Thursday, noted that the accounts submitted by the committee were "faulty and incomplete." Members had then demanded that another special general body meeting be convened and rejected the "haphazardly prepared" accounts of a cooperative institution that had an annual turnover of more than Rs. 25 crore. The meeting also condemned the reported silence of the managing committee to written requests by members calling for a special general body meeting. The members demanded that the committee get the accounts scrutinised by a recognised auditor within the next fortnight and present them at the special general body meeting, the release said. The meeting decided that the members would stage a dharna in front of the office of the co-operative society and also that of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies. Mr. Kamath presented a report at the above-mentioned meeting. The deputy conveners, Harish Shetty, B.T. Narayan, Venugopal Nambiar, and Shailesh K. were present. Nagesh Hegde proposed a vote of thanks.
