THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MAY 6. The Chief Minister, A. K. Antony, criticised the Central Government today for not reacting strongly against the barbaric acts of the United States in Iraq. Speaking to presspersons after the Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said the Centre was not willing to speak against American interests. This was not in tune with the traditional Indian policy against imperialism. "The India of Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi would have responded differently to the violence in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine," he said. Mr. Antony said his Government had taken up the issue of ill-treatment of Indian workers, including Keralites, in the American army camp in Iraq with the Centre. Serious violations of human rights of the workers had occurred. The details had been sent to the Prime Minister, A. B. Vajpayee.
