Sale of TTD seva tickets in black alleged

By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUMALA, MAY 7. A devotee, Srinivas Reddy, native of Vijayawada, on Friday alleged that while darshan tickets (Arjitha seva tickets) were being sold in the black market at higher rates, poor pilgrims languished in the queue lines at bank counter for long hours.

Participating in the monthly `dial TTD EO' programme, Reddy narrated his experience when he was at Tirumala on May 4. He said even though he numbered seventh in the queue line that stretched out of the darshan tickets issuing bank counter and was hopeful of purchasing a `Prathyeka Kalyanotsavam' (PKU) ticket with the computers installed on the premises showing forty PKU tickets available, he was denied the ticket.

On questioning, the bank staff replied that the tickets were sold out. Meanwhile, one person approached him and offered to sell him a ticket at Rs.500 in addition to the ticket cost.

The TTD Executive Officer, Ajeya Kallam, promised an enquiry into the matter.

Another participant, Satyam Babu of Pitapuram complained that even though the TTD had sanctioned Rs.59,000 for installation of idols in a temple in his area, there was no further correspondence.

Mr. Kallam explained that it was becoming difficult for the TTD to maintain temples in different parts of the State and suggested formation of a local committee.

Vijay Sekhar, Tirupati, urged the TTD to undertake repair to the gopuram at Kapiltheertham temple, Tirupati, and Padmavathi temple, Tiruchanoor, Raghava Reddy, Anantapur, requested repairs to the dining hall in the TTD kalyana mandapm at his place.

In reply to a complaint from Joga Rao, Kayampet, Mr. Kallam said that the drainage works at Tholappa gardens would be completed within 45 days.
