NALGONDA, MAY 7. The District Medical and Health Department is making all arrangements to make pulse polio programme a grand success on Sunday. Speaking to reporters in his office here on Friday, the DM&HO, D. Ramesh Chandra, said 3,009 pulse polio stations would be opened and 12,036 personnel would be deployed to ensure total immunisation. In all, 10,08,800 polio drops are required to immunize children below five years in the district during the fourth round of the exercise. Around 87 transit teams, each consisting of four persons, would be on duty to administer doses to infants among the travelling public. He said that the District Collector, Ram Prakash Sisodia, had issued orders to teachers and anganwadi workers to participate in the programme. The DM&H Department is organising training classes for medical and non-medical staff for the purpose. Mr.Ramesh Chandra warned the staff of stringent action, if they failed to discharge their duty on Sunday. "Checking and counter-checking is on to prevent the staff from being lethargic,'' he added. The DM&HO also advised people to take precautionary measures to prevent contagious diseases. "Everyone should maintain personal hygiene and keep their premises clean.
