Partly cloudy sky forecast

NEW DELHI MAY 7. A partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thundershowers accompanied with squalls in some areas is in store for the Capital on Saturday. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 38 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Friday at Safdarjung were 40 degrees Celsius and 21.5 degrees Celsius respectively.

At Palam, the maximum and minimum temperature stood at 40.6 degrees Celsius and 24.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum and minimum humidity at Safdarjung was 86 and 20 per cent, and at Palam it was 39 and 15 per cent respectively.

Cheat arrested

NEW DELHI MAY 7. A 35-year-old man, who allegedly cheated several people on the pretext of providing them bank loans, has been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police.

The accused, Abhishekh Tyagi, was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by a multinational company alleging that he was trying to get personal loans and car loans on forged documents, under an assumed name, Subodh Sinha. During interrogation, he disclosed that he used to open financial companies and offered people bank loans. He would charge processing fee for them and ask his clients to deposit an initial amount in the form of cheques to the bank concerned. He would then gather the cheques, add his company's name in the cheques, deposit them in the bank and would flee with the withdrawn money.

Nabbed

NEW DELHI MAY 7. Three persons allegedly involved in cases of robbery have been arrested from Greater Kailash in South Delhi.

Acting on a tip-off that some criminals would come to Greater Kailash, the police laid a trap and arrested Mohammad Akram, Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Wazid. They recovered some narcotics substance from Akram and two knives from his accomplices. During interrogation, they disclosed that they had committed six robberies in South Delhi houses.

At their instance, the police also recovered stolen good worth lakhs of rupees. Further investigations are on.

Cash looted

NEW DELHI MAY 7. A businessman and his son were robbed of over Rs. 3 lakhs at gunpoint by three unidentified men at Keshavpuram in North West Delhi today.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 7-30 this evening when the victims, Ramdhari Singhla and his son, Amit Kumar Singhla, were returning home after closing their shop in Jai Mata market. The two were intercepted by three men on a motorcycle who took the money at gunpoint. While the exact amount is not known, the sum is suspected to be anywhere between Rs. 3 lakhs to Rs. 5 lakhs.

Burglars held

NEW DELHI MAY 7. Two young men have been arrested by the South Delhi police for allegedly indulging in burglaries while posing as sales executives of a private firm. The police have recovered stolen goods estimated at Rs. 3 lakhs from the accused who are said to have been involved in at least 50 cases of burglary reported from South Delhi.

Murdered

NEW DELHI MAY 7. An ice-cream seller was stabbed to death in Sangam Vihar in South Delhi on Thursday . According to the police, the body of the victim, identified as Ashok Kumar, was found at Sangam Vihar with stab wounds on it.
