BANGALORE, MAY 7. The SSLC examination for March 2005 will be conducted on the basis of new textbooks that will be introduced for this academic year, T.M. Kumar, Director, Karnataka Secondary Education and Examination Board (KSEEB), said here on Friday. The new system evolved by the Directorate of State Education Research and Training for the SSLC examination will be put in place for the March 2006 examination. Photostat copies of answer papers of three subjects Mathematics, General Science and Social Science will be given to students who appeared for the March 2004 examination. The last date for submitting the application with the prescribed fees for re-totalling for all subjects and for photostat copies is May 15. Those who apply for photostat copies are not eligible to apply for re-totalling. Mr. Kumar said students should apply for re-evaluation within five days of receiving the photostat copies of answer papers. The fee for re-evaluation was Rs. 450 per answer paper. If there was a difference of six marks after re-evaluation, the amount would be refunded to the student, he added. Applications for re-evaluation should be addressed to S. Rajendra, Senior Assistant Director of Public Instruction, KSEEB. The supplementary examination would be conducted from June 10. The last date for submitting applications for the examination was May 15. Candidates, who had appeared for the March examination and wanted to improve their marks, could apply for the supplementary examination. But they had to obtain special permission from the board to appear for the examination in June, he said. The results of SSLC examination were unavailable on most of the "selected" websites till midnight on Friday. When the results were announced on Friday evening, officials of the KSEEB said they (results) would be out on eight websites by 6 p.m. the same evening. But anxious parents and students found that only three sites, including the KSEEB's official site - www.kseebd.com - had information about the results. The others were either unavailable or did not display them at all. According to the KSEEB officials, the results were to be found on www.atindia.com, www.vidyalaya.com, www.indiainfo.com, www.thatskannada.com, www.karnataka.com, www.educhoicekarnataka.com and www.educhoice.org. But those who tried to access "www.atindia.com" found a statement saying that its domain account had been suspended. The "indiainfo.com" site, on the other hand, only had links to the other "selected sites." The site "www.vidyalaya.com" would not open at all and "www.educhoicekarnataka.com" and "www.educhoice.org" were unavailable. The slow speeds at which information downloaded (from the sites that worked) added to the students and parents' frustration.
