BANGALORE, MAY 7. A 50-year-old man who was kidnapped in Ulsoor police station limits on Thursday night was found murdered in Vijayapura police station limits in Bangalore Rural district on Friday. The police said Ekambara, who was employed in a private company, was allegedly kidnapped by his son-in-law, Prakash Babu, and three others. His body was found in an agricultural land at Hagalakurki village in Vijayapura police station limits. His identity was established on the basis of a receipt found in the pocket of his trousers. The police said Prakash Babu had married Ekambaram's daughter about a year ago. As Babu had been harassing his wife for more dowry she had shifted to her father's house a month ago. But Babu had allegedly been making threatening calls to Ekambaram demanding that his wife be sent back, the police said. The Ulsoor police have registered a case of kidnapping. In another case, an unidentified man aged around 30 was found murdered on the Shaneshwara Temple premises at Ramaswamypalya in Banaswadi police station limits on Friday. The police said the assailants had killed the man by smashing his head with a boulder. The body has been kept at Ambedkar Medical College mortuary.
Seized
The City Crime Branch (CCB) officials raided five shops in Commercial Street police station limits and arrested five persons on charges of selling fake ink cartridges. The police seized 15 "inkjet" cartridges worth Rs. 25,000 from the shops. The police gave the names of the arrested persons as Nagaraj (33), Asgar Ali (25), Panchakshari (21), Irfan (19), and Mohisin Khan (19). In another raid, the CCB staff seized 625 pirated audio cassettes and 36 MP3s, together worth Rs. 24,000, from a shop on K.V. Temple Lane in Cottonpet police station limits. The police arrested the proprietor of the shop, V.N. Basavaraj (32).
