NEW DELHI, MAY 8. Two persons have been arrested by the Narcotics and Crime Prevention Cell of the Delhi police for allegedly possessing illegal weapons and drugs. The police recovered 10 country-made revolvers and other weapons which were apparently meant to be used during elections along with heroin from the accused. According to the police, a tip-off was received about two persons who would be coming to the Capital to hand over a consignment of weapons to their contact on May 6. Accordingly, a trap was laid by a police team opposite Samachar Apartments at Mayur Vihar in East Delhi. Around 4 p.m., two people appeared on the scene and were apprehended by the waiting police team. They have been identified as Rajpal Singh (42), a resident of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, and Pappu Singh (23), a resident of Ghaziabad in U.P. The police recovered country-made revolvers of .315-bore, 40 live cartridges of .315-bore, 36 knives, two daggers, five steel punches, two "guptis" and 265 gm of heroin. Interrogation of the accused, both of whom are sweetshop owners, revealed that it was Pappu who enticed Rajpal to join the racket. The duo got in touch with two other men, Bali of Bulandshahr and Manoj Bhati of Dadri, who were already involved in gun-running and drug peddling. Rajpal and Pappu had taken orders for the weapons and drugs from one Sheru Gujjar of Delhi and also taken advance money from him. They procured the arms and drugs from Bali and Manoj.
