This Day That Age
The 94th birthday of Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated by the Delhi branch of the Shantiniketan Ashramik Sangh on May 8. In a message, the President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad said: "The birthday of Tagore is an auspicious day not only for the people of this country but also for all educated people of the world. Through Tagore's literary and artistic works the dumb millions found an expression and the souls groping in the dark got a glimpse of light. Through his writings Gurudev raised India's head high in the world of letters." Presiding over the meeting, the Union Finance Minister, Mr. C.D. Deshmukh, said Tagore had brought India to the spiritual map of the world. A race which could produce Tagore could always claim an honoured place in the world.
