BELGAUM, MAY 9. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has awarded B+ grade to the city-based S.S.S. Samithi's Mahaveer P. Mirji Commerce College for five years. According to a press release here on Sunday, the college was started at Shedbal of Athani taluk in 1968. It was shifted to Belgaum in 1973. Since then, the college had ensured sustained improvement in all important areas, particularly academics. Today, the college was known for its quality and discipline in the district. Apart from offering degree courses in commerce, the college also offered a postgraduate course in Computer Applications, which was started in 2001. A course in Office Management and Secretarial Practice was also introduced for the benefit of graduates in 1999-2000. The performance of the students of the college had been excellent. In the final-year B.Com. examination in 2003, 86 of the 96 students passed.
