By Our Staff Correspondent
MANGALORE, MAY 9. It is important for those in medical profession to place humanity before self and not commercialise their knowledge, the President, Indian Orthopaedic Association, K. Sancheti, has said. Inaugurating Tejasvini Hospital here on Sunday, Dr. Sancheti regretted that the profession had assumed proportions of a business and was losing the human touch. The Bishop of Mangalore, Aloysius Paul D'Souza, who blessed the institution, said it was important for doctors to vibe with the needs of their patients, which was half the actual curing process. Swami Muktidanandaji of Ramakrishna Vidyalaya, Mysore, said people were adopting a reckless way of living, which was having a major bearing on individual health and human relationships. Amarnath Hegde, physician, dedicated the Shantaram Shetty Institute of Orthopaedics and Trauma, which is part of the hospital, on the occasion. N. Vinaya Hegde, President, Nitte Education Trust presided over the function. Dr. Shantaram Shetty, chairman of the hospital, welcomed the gathering.
