JSC gets past Young Orions

BANGALORE, MAY 9. The Jayanagar Sports Club (JSC) boys got past Young Orions to enter the semifinal stage of the State junior under-18 basketball championship at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts here on Sunday.

JSC's 42-36 victory was aided by the combined efforts of Darshan (11) and Sidharth (10) who held their nerve despite a spirited fight back from Holla of Orions, who top scored with 20 points.

JSC will now face-off against the strong SAI Dharwad team which defeated IBBC 52-37. Sports Hostel Mysore and Beagles are the other two teams that secured semifinal berths.

The girls' matches sprung a few surprises with a determined Vivek Sports Club getting past a resilient Beagles team 39-29.

The encounter between IBBC and Sports School was no different where the latter emerged victorious at 44-28 despite a consistent scoring performance by IBBC pivot Smera (12). However an ankle injury to Smera at the start of the final quarter undid IBBC. Sports School grabbed the opportunity with both hands and didn't allow its opponents to score a single basket in the final quarter. J

SC humbled Vidyanapura Basketball Club (VBBC) in the other quarterfinal game.
