TIRUNELVELI, MAY 9. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam today submitted a memorandum to the Central Election Observer-I for the Tiruchendur parliamentary constituency, Hoshiyar Singh, urging him to ensure the immediate release of party workers arrested on the eve of election. The DMK election committee secretary, V. Karuppasami Pandian, said the workers were arrested by the police after they pasted posters portraying Radhika Selvi, the Tiruchendur DMK candidate, and the body of her husband, Pannaiyar Venkatesan, who was killed in an encounter in Chennai last year. "The arrest of our cadres is unwarranted as the posters in no way violated the model code of conduct. As our candidate's victory is imminent, the police are acting at the behest of the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Minister, Anita R. Radhakrishnan," Mr. Karuppasami Pandian said.
