VISAKHAPATNAM, MAY 9. The speculation on "ifs and buts'' of poll outcome is likely to come an end by 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday when the officials are hopeful of completing the counting for most of the Assembly segments in the district. The cumbersome process of collecting all the ballot papers from various polling stations, mixing and bundling them to take up table-wise counting has become a thing of the past with the compulsory introduction of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) by the Election Commission of India. The result of Visakhapatnam-I Assembly segment, where the fate of the senior Congress leader, Dronamraju Satyanarayana, and the former BJP floor leader in the Assembly, K. Haribabu, are sealed in the EVMs, will be known first as the constituency has the lowest number of voters. The results of Visakhapatnam-II and Pendurthy which have a large chunk of voters, will be known after announcement of the outcome of all other segments. The counting this time, which will begin at 8 a.m. at nine centres in the city, is likely to be over by lunch-time. "Hopefully, all the counting officials can go home for lunch once the process is completed unlike the previous elections when we used to spend sleepless nights,'' the district Collector, Sunil Sharma, said. The officials will first count postal ballots before taking up ballots polled on the EVMs. The counting for Paderu and Chintapalle segments will be conducted at Anakapalle. Mr. Prasada Rao said that no one would be allowed inside the counting centres without valid permission.
