Temperature

MADURAI, MAY 9 . The city today registered a maximum temperature of 37.6 degree Celsius and a minimum temperature of 25.1 degree Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam stood at 110.80 feet with an inflow of 446 cusecs and a discharge of 250 cusecs.

The level in the Vaigai dam was 21.72 feet with an inflow of 17 cusecs and a discharge of 30 cusecs.

The rainfall registered in various places (in mm) is the Periyar dam - 8, Tekkadi - 7 and Shanmuganadi - 2.

Infant killed

in mishap

A one-year old baby girl was killed in a road accident near the Periyar bus stand today.

The police said two over-loaded share-autos collided on the Dindigul road overbridge this evening. Sankari alias Akshaya of Nagamalai Pudukottai fell out from one of the vehicles and died on the spot. The S.S. Colony police have registered a case. The driver, Balasubramaniam, was arrested.

Donated

The West Masi Street and Anna Nagar branches of the Punjab National Bank have donated Rs. 5,000 to a disabled national athlete, A. Gopikannan, who is taking part in the `Para Olympics Championship', scheduled for May 8 and 9 in Belgium, to meet his expenses.

The bank's Senior Manager handed over the amount recently.
