THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MAY 9. The All India Radio (AIR) has invited applications from those who wish to participate in its annual music competition. This is a national level competition to identify young talent and its preliminary rounds will be held at the local stations of the AIR. Singers aged between 16 and 24 as on June 30, 2004 are eligible to participate in the competition. The events are: classical music, devotional song and light music (vocal); veena, flute, violin and nagaswaram (instrumental music) and mridangam, thavil, ganjira, khatom and mukharsankhu. Those from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki may contact the Thiruvananthapuram station of the AIR for more details. The last date for receiving applications is June 4.
