NEW DELHI, MAY 9. The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will launch a three-month course in Intellectual Property Rights through its National Centre for Distance Learning in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in June this year. To be open to graduates of any stream, the course will deal with the basic components of IPR including patents, copyrights, trademarks and industrial designs with emphasis on the present scenario in India. According to IGNOU's Pro Vice-Chancellor, S.C. Garg, similarly, a postgraduate diploma course in Intellectual Property Rights was also being launched in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) of the Geneva-based World Wide Academy. "The year-long course is aimed at professionals involved in intellectual property collection. It will equip the learners about the procedural aspects of obtaining IPR and exercising these rights," he informed.
