Compensation awarded
"The complainant (Shamsher) has established that he sustained grievous injury due to rash and negligent driving of scooter driven and owned by Yad Ram," MACT Judge Naipal Singh said awarding the amount to Shamsher. The court ordered that the money be paid along with an interest of 6 per cent. Shamsher, 40, met with the mishap on October 13 last year near Seelampur, said his counsel Lokesh Kumar. Near a traffic signal, Ram's scooter rammed him from behind and sped off after running over his left leg, Shamsher alleged. However, a passerby noted down the scooter number and brought it to the notice of the police. Perusing the medical evidence which confirmed injuries suffered by Shamsher and the statement of an eyewitness, the court asked Yad Ram to compensate the victim for injuries suffered due to his negligence and rash driving.
