Passport seized from Tanvir's house

BANGALORE, MAY 9. The city police have recovered a passport, said to be a fake one, used by Tanvir Ahmed who was arrested here on Saturday.

Tanvir Ahmed, who is wanted by the city police and the Interpol, used the passport on his trips to West Asian countries, the police said.

According to the police, a team, headed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, B.K. Shivaram, recovered the passport, two pistols and two guns during a raid on Tanvir Ahmed's house on Tannery Road in the early hours of Sunday.

It arrested Abdul Ayub, an alleged associate of Tanvir Ahmed in Shivajinagar.

Police sources said Tanvir Ahmed had obtained the passport in the name of Abdul Khader stating that he was a resident of Kanchi Kamakoti Nagar in Chennai.

The sources said the police were also looking into Tanvir Ahmed's links with anti-social elements in Calcutta and Mumbai.

Reward

Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner, S. Mariswamy, announced a reward of Rs. 50,000 to the police team that arrested Tanvir Ahmed.
