By Our Special Correspondent
GULBARGA, MAY 10. Leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Janata Dal (S) on Monday staged a dharna in front of the Narona Police Station in Aland taluk in Gulbarga district in protest against the alleged harassment meted out to the supporters of the CPI(M) by the police. The protestors said the police had registered a false complaint under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Atrocities (Prevention) Act on instigation by the Congress leaders. The protestors were led by the State Secretariat Member of the CPI(M), Maruti Manpade, and the former zilla panchayat member and senior Janata Dal (S) leader, Seethkant Tadkal. The others who participated in the dharna were Virupakshappa Tadkal of the Karnataka Pranta Raitha Sangha, Sudham Danni of the Karnataka Krishi Koolikarara Sangha and Jayalal Totadamani of the Democratic Youth Federation of India. The protestors presented a memorandum to the Aland Sub Division Police.
