Star turtle found
Thanjavur May 11. A rare star turtle was found near the housing unit in Tamil University here yesterday. Jancy, a resident, noticed the turtle, took it and kept it at her house.
Election update service
CHENNAI MAY 11. All Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) CellOne customers in Tamil Nadu Telecom Circle can keep abreast of the Lok Sabha election results on May 13 and 14. The frequent updates of the results will be broadcast to CellOne/Excel customers in the Tamil Nadu Telecom Circle. Customers have to enable ``Channel 50'' Broadcast receive in the cellphones. This is a free service, says a release from the BSNL Tamil Nadu Telecom Circle. Touchtel, a private fixed line service provider and NDTV, a leading news broadcaster and news provider, have announced the launch of their special service offering regular ``election updates.'' Using Touchtel's 1778 service, customers will be able to access voice updates of news bulletins. According to K. Krishnan, CEO, Bharti Infotel Limited, Access Business Group (Tamil Nadu and Karnataka), the service will provide a detailed insight into the election results and updates from various locations across the country.
MLA duped
ERODE MAY 11. A person duped the Kangeyam AIADMK woman MLA today. According to the police, some days ago, the son-in-law of the MLA, Selvi Murugesan, was murdered near Bangalore. On this, the MLA and her husband obtained anticipatory bail. An unknown person entered the house of the MLA this morning and told her that he was a CID officer and wanted to verify her bail order. It is said she gave a Xerox copy of the order. The person gave her two telephone numbers and asked to contact him later, and left the place. But when she dialled the number, there was no response. She filed a complaint with the police.

B.L entrance exam results
CHENNAI May 11. The results of the entrance examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University on May 2 for admission to B.A B.L (Hons.) degree course was released yesterday. It is available on the university noticeboard and its web site (www.tndalu.org) , a release said. Application for admission to B.A. B.L (Hons.) degree course in the School of Excellence in Law and in the Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai, will be issued in the university from May 21. The last date for issue and submission of application is June 4.
2 killed in accident
Kancheepuram May 11. Two persons were killed in an accident on GST Road near Chengalpattu last evening. According to the police, Shankar (30) and Sukkreevan (35) of Pilambur near here, who were riding a motorcycle died on the spot, when their vehicle and a bus collided around 7 p.m. In another incident, a car driver of a travel company having its headquarters at Pammal near Chennai was found dead in a tank at Irumpuliyur.
The police said the car was engaged by a group on May 8 to visit Mamallapuram and other areas. However, the body of Rajkumar (38) was found floating in the tank yesterday.

Mathi Vathanan, Regional Passport Officer, Chennai.

The Prohibition Enforcement Wing personnel seized 1,056 bottles of spurious liquor at Kurugurapalli here on Monday. The police said that during vehicle checks, a team intercepted a maxi cab coming from Karnataka on Hosur-Krishnagiri Road and found liquor bottles. Saadiq Baasha (26), Ujeer Baasha (27) and Riyadh (21) were arrested and the vehicle seized.

A five-year-old boy died and his mother sustained serious injuries after a wall collapsed in the gusty winds at Kaveripattinam here on Monday. The police said that Tulasi along with her son Murali was fetching water at a public fountain when a nearby compound wall collapsed. While Murali died on the spot, Tulasi was admitted to the Kaveripattinam General Hospital with injuries. The Kaveripattinam police have registered a case.
