Plus-Two results today

CHENNAI, MAY 11. The results of the higher secondary (Standard XII) examinations will be published tomorrow.

According to the Director of Government Examinations, C. Palanivelu, the results would be publicised by 4 p.m. They would be available also on the Internet.

In a release, he said the students would be able to know the subject marks from their schools. The results would also be hosted on web sites, including official sites (http://tnresults.nic.in; and http://dge1.tn.nic.in). They are also made available by mobile phone service providers.

The examinations were held between March 10 and 31. A total of 5,13,146 students, including 2.55 lakh girls, wrote the examinations.

The day the examinations began, officials said that the results in 2003 were released on May 16 and department's endeavour would be to meet the same deadline this year too. However, officials today said they were able to advance the publication of results by a few days as more teachers were deployed for valuation. Processing of data was also done faster.

With the publication of the results, the race for admissions to higher educational institutions, especially professional colleges, will pick up.

TNPCEE results

The results of the Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examinations (TNPCEE), originally slated to be released on May 17, is expected one or two days earlier, said E. Balagurusamy, Anna University Vice-Chancellor, coordinating body for the TNPCEE.

Associations' meet

A meeting of associations representing managements of engineering colleges will be held here tomorrow to decide the modalities of conducting a common entrance test to select students for the management quota.
