Repolling in 30 booths

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, MAY 11. Repolling has been ordered in 30 booths spread across 13 parliamentary constituencies in the State. The repolling will be held tomorrow (May 12), the Election Commission said today.

While repolling has been necessitated in 19 booths in 12 constituencies due to a technical error developed in electronic voting during voting on Monday, the Commission ordered repoll in 11 booths in the Karur constituency, as the presiding officers permitted voters, whose names were deleted, to exercise their franchise. The State recorded 60.56 per cent polling, with Nagapattinam registering the highest, 71.49, and North Chennai the lowest, 46.15.

Against the total electorate of 4.72 lakh voters in 39 constituencies, about 2.86 lakh voters exercised their franchise.
