Sensex crashes

MUMBAI, MAY 11. Political uncertainties arising out of electoral upheavals, particularly the rout of the Bharatiya Janata Party-Telugu Desam Party combine in Andhra Pradesh, sent the benchmark index crashing by a whopping 229.94 points at the Bombay Stock Exchange today, wiping out Rs. 54,550 crores of the overall BSE market capitalisation.
