PONDICHERRY, MAY 12 . Schools (both government and private institutions) in the Pondicherry and Karaikal regions (adopting the Tamil Nadu pattern of higher secondary course syllabus) registered 73.28 pass percentage in the Plus-Two examinations. Of the 8,193 students who appeared, 6,004 passed the examination. Official sources said today that government schools improved their performance than that in last year. Of the 5,735 students who appeared for the exam, 3,827 passed, registering 66.73 pass percentage. Last year the schools recorded 63.57 pass percentage. St.Patrick Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Saradambal Nagar scored cent per cent pass, with all 143 students clearing the exam. Alpha Matriculation School at Mangalakshmi Nagar also scored cent per cent results. All 32 students of the school came out successful. The Principal of the Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary School, S. Antonisamy, felicitated the students of the school who notched top positions at the Pondicherry State level. Manoj Chakravarthy of the school got the Pondicherry State level first rank scoring 1189 out of 1200 marks. The second and third positions have also gone to the school, with its students M. Yuvaraja and L.G. Saptharishi obtaining 1182 and 1181 respectively.
