CHENNAI, MAY 12. The DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, has denied speculation emanating from New Delhi about contacts being established by the Bharatiya Janata Party/National Democratic Alliance with his party. He told The Hindu , when contacted tonight, that " there is absolutely no truth in this rumour. Why should we have left the NDA then," he asked. Earlier, addressing a press conference, Mr. Karunanidhi reiterated that his party would not be part of a Congress-led government at the Centre. But this was his personal view and not that of the party, he said. In his view, the DMK should not join the Government, even if the Congress was in a position to form one. His opinion would be discussed at the party fora and an appropriate decision taken. Asked if the party's opinion would run contrary to his, Mr. Karunanidhi said he was always open to suggestions, even if they did not reflect his line of thought.
