NEW DELHI, MAY 12. A 19-year-old woman working as a domestic help at the Meeyanwali Nagar residence of Sajjan Kumar, the Congress candidate from the Outer Delhi constituency was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the bathroom of its basement in West Delhi this afternoon. The police suspect that she died from electrocution. The incident came to light around 2-30 p.m. when one of the four domestic helps working in Mr. Kumar's house went to the basement's bathroom and found Manisha alias Maya lying there in an unconscious state. She had sustained burns in the chest and the left hand. The domestic help alerted the other occupants, following which Manisha, a native of Simdega in Jharkhand, was rushed to Maharaja Aggrsen Hospital where the doctors declared her dead on arrival. According to the police, initial medical examination revealed that Manisha had died from electrocution. They have recovered a wire from the spot through which Manisha was apparently electrocuted while trying to change a fused bulb. Enquiries revealed that Manisha, daughter of Tobias Dungdung, had been working at Mr. Kumar's residence for the past two years. She was employed through a Punjabi Bagh-based domestic help agency, Yuvati Sewa Sadan. A few months ago, Manisha returned to her native place but had come back this February. While the police believe that Manisha died from electrocution, they have registered a case and are investigating. During questioning, other domestic helps told the police that all of them lived in the basement.
