Cong, DMK win

NAMAKKAL, MAY 13. The Congress and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam nominees, both women, - K.Rani and Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan - bagged the Rasipuram and Tiruchengode constituencies respectively by handsome margins.

While K. Rani of the Congress wrested the Rasipuram seat from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the DMK this time contested the Tiruchengode seat that was held by its ally, the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. In Rasipuram, Ms. Rani defeated the AIADMK's S. Anbalagan by 1,34,533 votes.
