Prostitution racket smashed

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, MAY 13. Six alleged pimps and three call girls have been arrested by the South-West Delhi police for allegedly running a major prostitution racket spanning across several cities. They were using luxury cars for transportation and wireless sets for communications. The police also recovered photographs of several junior artistes working in films or television from the hide-outs of the accused.

According to the police, the beat staff of the Vasant Kunj police station got a tip-off about some girls seen moving under suspicious circumstances at a farmhouse behind Pocket-D 3, Vasant Kunj, on April 14. The staff kept a watch on the farmhouse, Surya Garden, and five days later a raid was mounted under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of police (Delhi Cantonment). The police arrested Santosh Kumar Yadav, Rohit Bisht and Saurav, the alleged pimps along with three call girls. While one of the girls was from Bangalore, the other two were from Jammu and Kashmir.

The trio told the police that Ankit Dheer was the kingpin of the racket, working along with Yogesh alias Harish Kumar and Rajeev Virmani, in whose name the farmhouse was rented. The police tapped the mobile phone of Ankit which he did not change despite being aware that the police were looking for him. Rajeev and Yogesh were arrested when they were supplying the girls to their clients at Priya cinema complex on May 7. Barring Rajeev (34), all the accused are in their 20s and late teens.

Three call girls were found locked in a Chitranjan Park house rented by the pimps. The girls, one of whom was from Uzbekistan, told the police that women racketeers of Mumbai had sent them to Delhi on demand of the accused pimps. They were let off after their statements were recorded. It has come to light that Yogesh used to supply male prostitutes for women, while Rajeev used to supply male partners for gay customers in the name of offering massage services. Ankit used to be in touch with both and coordinate with other operators elsewhere in the country to run the racket.

The police seized four luxury cars, 17 mobile phones, a wireless set, photographs of models, girls from film and television industries, wireless and mobile chargers, diaries containing telephone numbers of clients, details of the payment, large number of condoms and several other documents at the instance of the accused. They also recovered Rs. 1.16 lakhs in cash.
