NEW DELHI, MAY 13. A Delhi police constable has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Delhi government for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe in lieu of releasing three persons who were brought to the police post in connection with an accidental death. According to the police, a young man was found injured by the police on the road at Sangam Vihar in South Delhi a few days ago. The man told the police to inform Rajesh and Asif, whom he knew. Later, the man died. In the meantime, Rajesh and Asif, along with two others, had come to the police post at H-Block Sangam Vihar. The police allegedly framed a case of Excise Act against Asif and "released" the other three. However, Constable Sensar Pal, demanded Rs. 6,000 from one Narender - who happened to know the three persons - in lieu of "releasing" them. Another Constable Ashok also allegedly demanded Rs. 5,000 from Narender against the same consideration. Narender complained to the ACB, which laid a trap on Tuesday. Constable Sensar Pal was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe from Narender. Earlier, Narender, who runs a shop of gate fabricating in Sangam Vihar, was approached by the accused constable over telephone who demanded the amount for "releasing" Rajesh, Manoj and Rinku, who had earlier reached the police post after hearing about the accident of their acquaintance. They asked Narender to meet him at Kumar Sweet House, Ratia Marg, Sangam Vihar around 6 p.m. on Tuesday from where they were arrested. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at Sangam Vihar police station and further investigations in the case are on.
