HYDERABAD, MAY 13. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Thursday said that the anti-incumbency factor was responsible for the rout of the BJP-led NDA combine in the Lok Sabha elections as people wanted a change. Talking to reporters here, the senior TDP leaders -- Y. Ramakrishnudu, Kodela SivaPrasada Rao, T. Devender Goud and K. Ram Mohan Rao -- said that the Assembly and the Lok Sabha results had shown that the anti-incumbency feeling was widespread. "We have to do an in-depth analysis to find out if there are lapses in policies or whether we failed to counter the opposition's campaign effectively," they added. Mr. Goud said the benefits of economic reforms had reached only a few sections and had not percolated to the people at the grass roots. Replying to a question on the foreign origin issue, he said the TDP was still committed to its stand that only those who were well versed with all aspects of the country should occupy high Constitutional posts.
