ADILABAD, MAY 13. Two dreaded People's War naxalites were killed in an exchange of fire with the special party police in the wee hours of Thursday at Akenapalli village about four km from Bellampalli town. Both of them --Bollam Rajanarsu alias Balanna, the PW's Adilabad district committee member and Radepaka Shekhar alias Raghu, commander of the district action teams -- carried a reward of Rs. 2 lakh each. A 9 mm carbine, two 0.38 revolvers and one hand grenade were recovered from the scene of the encounter. With their death only Chippakurthi Ravi alias Sudershan, another action team commander remains active in the Bellampalli coal belt area. According to reports he too is sending feelers to the district police seeking peaceful surrender. In charge Superintendent of Police and Bellampalli Additional SP M. Stephen Raveendra, said the police were fired upon from a house in Akenapalli village while a cordon and search operation was on at about 1.30 a.m. on Thursday. The special party police asked the naxalites holed up in the house to surrender their arms. However, they retaliated and were fired upon.
